Beyond all of the fun swimsuits, cute cover-ups and espadrilles, there's something so special about island life that I love. It might be because it's just so different from the fast-paced and sometimes hectic lifestyle that is the norm here in DC, and change is always fun. But I'm so drawn to the no-worries attitude and within seconds of stepping off of the plane in the Bahamas I find that I slip right into it.

When our good friend invited us to a trip to the Atlantis, Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas, it was a no-brainer. We always make time for island time. And in the midst of December? Where's the question! We stayed in Harborside Resort residential villas but spent most of our time exploring the vastness of the Atlantis on foot or by shuttle. I loved having the option of the relaxing on the adult-only beaches at The Cove, bargaining with the beach vendors at Atlantis Beach for palm leaf hats and coconut cocktails, or pretending to be a kid again anxiously waiting in line to go down the water slides (and if you've heard of the Atlantis, you've heard of the water slides and they are AWESOME). At night we tried our luck at the Roulette table in the casino, had the best sushi we've ever tasted at Nobu, and laughed until we cried at the comedy show. After seven days on the resort, it began to feel like home. The Atlantis is a truly magical place and the hospitality is as warm as the sun. We'll definitely be back soon!
