At what point do you become a connoisseur of something? I like to think that at age 29 I've tried on and worn enough jeans to know a good pair when I see one. There are a few simple things I've come to look for when searching for the perfect pair of denim ,which I've narrowed down to waist height (I prefer a mid to high waist height), wash and comfort (comfort is key!).

For a while though it felt like the only good, high-quality denim was on the higher end in terms of cost. But since the industry shift, where there are more brands focusing on attainable high fashion, brands like Articles of Society denim are coming out on top. With connections to major denim houses like Hudson, Theory and Vince, the Articles of Society team brings with them a wealth of insider knowledge as they promise their customer a designer-quality pair of denim without the designer price tag.

Nordstrom has since picked up the affordable denim line and one of the brand's latest styles, the "Sarah" Skinny Jeans. For under $100, these jeans are complete with a mid rise waist, comfortable stretch fabric, and a slight distressing, all meant to accentuate their wearer's natural silhouette.

Some of my favorites from the collection include this pair of white jeans with a cropped, frayed hem. Next on my wishlist is the 'London' cropped and flared jeans, perfect for petite girls like myself. And, just in time for fall, this light grey wash is the season's hues optimum counterpart.
