#StylePassItOn Party with Dress for Success & L'eggs

Happy Friday, loves! L’eggs has been dressing women in the workforce for years and recently they reached out to me asking if I would be interested in hosting a clothing donation drive for Dress For Success. The mission behind Dress for Success here in Washington DC is to “empower women to achieve economic independence.” A big part of that empowerment includes providing the right clothes to help them feel empowered to do just that.

I have been reading the book Career Code, by Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power, and one of my favorites of all of their “Codes” is Code #5: Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. I’ve always been a firm believer that dressing the part is just as important as anything when it comes to landing your dream job, or doing anything in life for that matter! First impressions are everything and what you’re wearing is one of the first things that people will see, including your potential employers.

Since I always love a good excuse to throw a party, or a reason to give back, I was thrilled to participate. Being that it was the summertime and a lot of my friends have been traveling (myself included), I wasn’t able to find a date/time that worked well for everyone. But I asked them to drop off items throughout the week at their leisure. The girls totally came through and we ended up with a great selection of practically new workwear for the Dress for Success local chapter.

So, here are a few tips I have on how to Sip, Style & Share in case you want to host your own donation party!

I decorated the room with some of the clothes I was giving away to help set the stage for donations. I also left out markers and hang tags for my friends to leave encouraging notes for the women who were going to receive their clothes & accessories.

It’s always important to offer your guests drinks and snacks, just for coming. But why not add in a little party favor too? It helps make sure that your friends and guests know just how much you appreciate their support, especially when it comes to charity events.

When it comes to giving back, it always ends up feeling like the charity is the one that gave something to you, not vice versa. So thank you to L’eggs for giving me a way to help out my local community of women, and to my wonderful friends for joining in on the cause. If you want to host a clothing drive of your own, or drop off some of your gently used clothing, you can find your local Dress for Success chapter here!

Disclosure: Thank you to L’eggs and Dress for Success for partnering with us on this post.

L'eggs is also currently offering Silken Mist Ultra Sheers for $2.99 (the ones featured here, regularly priced at $5.99) as a thank you to anyone who donates to DFS or a local charity of their choice. Just use the code FSSM20 at checkout (valid through 06/30).
